Fighting for Our Land

See! God has placed the Land before you. Go up, take possession, as God, Lord of your fathers, has told you. Do not be afraid and do not be concerned.

                                                  Deuteronomy 1:21

Moses’ message to Israel was that they are about to enter their Land, the Land promised them by the Almighty, thus they should not think they will be fighting to take possession of the Canaanites’ land, rather they will be fighting to reclaim their own Land, which is the nation’s divine inheritance. Realizing that the Land was given to Israel by God should allow the people to fight without fear of the powerful and well-equipped armies of Canaan, since Israel will benefit from Divine assistance.

Now as then, Israel has come to reclaim its own Land, not to conquer the lands of others. The Land was given to us by God, and no power on earth can take it away from us. (The only times in history that Israel was governed by its native population was when it was when it was ruled by Jews.)
